Lincoln's Bicentennial 1809-2009

This year is President Abraham Lincoln's Bicentennial (1809-2009). The AttleboroGOP Lincoln Re-enactors are planning many different community programs throughout the years. Some of the members have already done free presentations at local schools, churches and to civil groups. The Lincoln Re-enactors have 30 members and includes 20 who dress in period clothing and take on the parts of Lincoln's staff, family, and friends. Our next event is open to the public and is a full "Lincoln Civil War Dinner Theater" on March 8, 2009. There will be two seatings - one at 2:00 and one at 6:00 at the Good News Hall, 235 West Street, Attleboro. Tickets can be ordered through the website: AttleboroGOP.com

Fascinating. How can I learn more a bout the Lincoln Re-enactors?

HI Rick -
The AttleboroGOP Lincoln Re-enactors are a sub group of the AttleboroGOP (Attleboro Republican City Committee). For the past 3 years we have done a Lincoln Civil War presentation here in Attleboro - dinner theater style, although some members of the AttleboroGOP have a 25 plus year history of meeting for dinner around Lincoln's Birthday. For 2009 - we have 20 members who have volunteered to take on the part of Abraham Lincoln's family, friends, staff and political cabinet. This year our show is in March although in the past it was done in February closer to Lincoln's Birthday or Presidents day. The youngest member of our cast is 7 and the more mature members are pushing 80. Anyone who wants to get involved is welcome, although this year, we feel that 20 full cast parts is quite an undertaking, so anyone new joining now could be support staff although not a main part.
