According to information provided by Gallup.com (read the entire report there): Obama's weekly job approval ratings in the Gallup Poll have been running at 61% or better since he took office, and register 65% at the conclusion of his first 100 da...

Yes, I can spell Vehicular Homicide: Vehicular Homicide. Only kidding you, Bob!! Your post about the 55-Team is really interesting. And I do think people start to police themselves when they hit spots known as hot for police coverage. There's on...

What would you do to improve life in this country?

Let's get going on a lively and lengthy blog with ideas on what would make America the best it can be.

All viewpoints from all political beliefs welcome. Let's try not to shout each other down, ridicule, deride, smear, etc., but just state our cases and let others do the same. Maybe we'll all learn something! Imagine that.

Mine: Start winding down unionization for teachers and requiring competency tests in each field of instruction --English, history, science etc. -- once every five yea… Continue

Specter of change: Term limits please

Arlen Specter, Pennsylvania's senior senator since April 4, 1991, the fifth most senior Republican in the Senate and the oldest Republican Senator, has just defected to the Democratic Party for self-serving reasons: He cannot bear to think of exiting the Senate, playing some golf and actually paving the way for a newcomer to get a crack at the job.

Obama just can't win with these critics

The far right has Obama in a no-win grip. Now it's the absurd hysteria over what critics say was the president's demand that Jesus be excised from view in his talk at Georgetown U. The matter was staging, not anti-religion.

Georgetown's Julie Bataille told NBC, “The White House wanted a simple backdrop of flags and pipe and drape for the speech, consistent with what they’ve done for other policy speeches. Frankly, the pipe and drape wasn’t high enough by itself to fully cover the IHS and cross… Continue

The kindness of ordinary people

What stories do area residents have of kindnesses extended to them by family, friends or strangers during these days of gloom? It's so easy to complain and rant on these sites, tougher to calm down and consider gratitude.

NBC, by popular request, has been running nightly segments on the decency of ordinary people extended toward their neighbors and toward strangers during these times of economic stress.

The network asked for tips and was inundated. One man, in his 70s, puts 1,000 miles on his… Continue

Stem cell funding, yes or no?

President Obama is supporting federal taxpayer funding of embryonic stem cell research, a decision that would overturn that of the Bush administration. What is your opinion?

Is this simply an extraordinary opportunity for science to pursue ways to alleviate any number of afflictions or do you view it as the destruction of innocent life, something which is never warranted?

What would you tell Obama?
