Kathy -- I'm very surprised at your stand in the Mansfield situation. I would think that you'd know me better than to think that I would throw my support behind individuals who do not deserve it. I'm standing with Mike Redding and his coaches because of the way they have conducted themselves over the past 20 years, but more importantly, because my examination of the facts has proven to me that this was an honest mistake compounded by breakdowns in communication and a "perfect storm" of other factors, including Mike's genuine concern for his wife and his unborn twins -- and anyone with an ounce of sense and compassion would understand that that had to be at the top of his priority list.

People are acting as if Redding schemed and connived to hide a superstar on his roster, and that wasn't the case. And the MIAA's own lawyer said in court that the organization would not have been able to convene the Board of Directors for an appeals hearing AT ANY TIME on short notice, which to me, is just as bad as the inability of key people in the Mansfield food chain to contact each other. The MIAA's penalties for the "crime" involved are excessive and Mansfield is fighting what's excessive, as it should.

I don't take this stand lightly, Kathy. I am putting my credibility on the line, which should not be in question but is because these "critics" don't need to use facts to support their flawed arguments. What's going on in this situation has nothing to do with the nuts who run the board of selectmen in that town ... in fact, I have gained a lot of respect for the new principal, Dr. Joseph Maruszczak, for the intelligence he has brought in his support of a coach he didn't even know until June.

And what irritates me the most is that many of these internet critics, including Mr. Guinan, are decrying the Mansfield situation more vehemently than something like what happened in Walpole, where the former coach and AD is accused of raping young girls. The Mansfield situation, to unfortunately quote Victor Kiam, is a "flyspeck in the ocean" by comparison. Most of the venom I've heard is just from people who have axes to grind, either personal demons or bad memories of losses to Mansfield. It's not based on reality or the facts of the matter.

Feel free to call me if you want to chat more. But I'm very disappointed that you would have so little faith in me to think I would back people who didn't deserve it.

Hi Kathy, the comment is still there on my page. Thanks for the well wishes on the turkey :) I'll be updating as the bird is in the fridge. I saw my opening at Willow Tree this morning and I took it before it got too crazy there.

No, Kathy. I grew up in Pawtucket, RI, and now live in Attleboro.

Years ago, at one of my radio jobs, I got a call from a girl named Christy Ambrose who I believe was from Middleboro, who also had a brother named Mark...but also no relation.

I just can't get enuff ....

It's 5 p.m.

For most people, they are just getting out of work; fighting traffic; looking forward to getting home. Not me, I'm already there. I get out at 3:30 p.m.; home by 4. Why is 5 p.m. so special for me? Well, it's the same reason as why Tuesday nights are my favorite on CBS, and why my "On Demand" button on my remote is showing signs of wear and tear.

It's NCIS time!!!! I've been hooked since I watched my first episode with Jeff 3 years ago. What is NCIS you ask? Well, NCIS (Naval Crimi… Continue

Funny stuff

WARNING -- WARNING -- WARNING.

If you DO NOT have a sense of humor, please, DO NOT read this blog. It contains sophmorish jokes/material, and is probably politically incorrect for most of the Sun Chronicle readership.

However, if you do have a sense of humor, and need a good laugh after a tough day at work, or just trying to get through one more "the ARA has been wronged" article, then I have something for you to watch/listen to. Go to youtube.com, and in the search field. type either "Jeff Du… Continue

I'm baaaccckkk

Got back from Ohio on Saturday evening. We left a day early because we wanted to be home to watch the Vikings in the NFC wild card game.
The trip was awesome as usual; stayed at Carl and Judy's house; the happy newlyweds whom just got married in November. Traffic heading there was fine until we actually got through Akron, Ohio. Then the rains came down, making for a long(er) ride as people just become stupid in the rain. Coming home the traffic was not bad until we hit Connecticut. Put some flas… Continue

R U KIDDING ME???? !!!!!

Are you kidding me? It just took me about 50 minutes to get home from work in East Providence, normally a 15-20 minute drive. And it's not even snowing yet. Part of the problem? I refer to it as the Rhode Island Idiot Factor, 1 being the lowest idiot form, 10 being the king of the idiots. Unless you drive in Rhode Island on a daily basis, you will have no idea what I'm talking about. Here's some pointers:

1. Merge? What does that mean? I have had to sit behind plenty of number 10's who were abs… Continue
