What’s new

Play suspended as storm hits

Earl has finally made his appearance

Play has been suspended at the Deutsche Bank Championship.

That’s the conclusion you can draw from statistics from last year and from the seven-year history of the Deutsche Bank Championship.

Only one of the first four holes had an average score above par last year, the par-3 third at 3.006. The driveable 298-yard par-4 fourth hole was the second easiest hole of the tournament, playing to an average score of 3.561.

But right after…

Dimpleheads day

Today is a day for the true dimpleheads at TPC Boston.

On Tuesday and Thursday, the crowds come mainly to see the celebrities, be they former Red Sox like Luis Tiant or Dennis Eckersley (at Tuesday's pro-am) or Donald Trump (normally at Thursday's pro-am but a scratch this year).

So today is just a day for the 100 players taking part in the Deutsche Bank Championship to practice in relative quiet.

If you're a real dimplehead -- in other words, if…
