Don't bother trying to make sense of the following, just know:
1) A Massachusetts Democratic state senator said last night during the budget debate that he opposed raising the income tax because it would hurt taxpayers in the pocketbook. He then voted to raise the sales tax. Apparently sale taxes do not hurt taxpayers in the pocketbook.
2) The clerk's office at the Massachusetts state Senate is not allowed to give out the votes of individual senators on specific issues.
3) Republicans in Congress are opposed to investigations of the use of torture during the Bush administration, the people who authorized torture and the lawyers who wrote the bogus legal opinions approving of torture. However, Republicans are demanding an investigation into what House Speaker Nancy Pelosi knew about what was going on.
4) Congress has added an amendment to a credit card regulation bill that allows loaded weapons in National Parks. Nobody who voted for it bothered to explain what guns in National Parks have to do with credit cards.

Hi Jim, you highlight classic problems with government. Here's an other one that you raised last week:

Mass Senate rejected a proposal to allow slot machines at race tracks siting the potential impact gambling has on the poor, then suggested adding Power Ball to the Mass Lottery as a means to increase revenues. Apparently the Lottery is not gambling.

Enjoyed both your articles on that subject. Not sure anyone in public office actually listens to what they say. Constant contradictions.

5) Obama calling current deficit spending “unsustainable,” warned of skyrocketing interest rates for every form of credit, as well as huge inflation, yet continues on his path towards nationalized health-care.
6) Obama in one of his 1st acts as president ordered Gitmo closed, but his own party refuses to allow him to do so, by withholding funding.
