CUMBERLAND, R.I. -- The
Dixie Diehards Jazz Band has a unique and brassy feel for music history with its command of old-time New Orleans Jazz and Dixieland music.
Now, you can become a part of history along with the band as the Diehards record a live performance 2 p.m. Sunday Nov. 1 at the
Blackstone River Theater, 549 Broad St. It's a raucus celebration of old New Orleans you won't soon forget!
For years, the Dixie Diehards have delighted family audiences with their versions of old-time jazz classics ranging from "Tiger Rag" to "Basin Street Blues" and "The Saints Go Marching In," liberally spiced with impromptu sing-alongs, dance outbursts and infectious nonsense. Audience members won't simply be along for the ride -- they'll also be able to sign up to receive a take-home version of their concert when a CD version is issued.
The Diehards, led by trumpeter Alan Shapiro, have appeared throughout southern New England wherever Dixieland and traditional jazz music is celebrated.
Tickets for the Nov. 1 concert are $12. For more information or to order visit www.riverfolk.org or call (401) 725-9272.
