Protesters gathered at various sites across the country today to demonstrate against tax increases and assaults on freedom such as gun-owner rights by President Barack Obama.
Apparently the protesters never got word that Obama has not raised taxes. He has proposed some increases two years down the road, but for now he has cut the income tax rate on everyone making less than $250,000.
He has also not attacked gun rights and has said many times he has no intention to doing so.
Right wing bloggers and Fox News commentators have been shamelessly stirring up rumors of a secret plan to abolish the Second Amendment to the Constitution since Obama got elected.
It has led to a rise in gun purchases.
The demonstrations were in part organized and funded by Washington D.C. lobbyist Dick Armey, the former Texas congressman known of his off-the-wall statements.
But, off-the-wall statements seem to be the norm among those most hateful of Obama.
He is either a socialist, communist, Muslim, or non-American, (or all four) depending on which right winger you listen to.
It is no surprise that those on the extremes of the left and the right would use such inflamed and false rhetoric, but the whackiness has made its way into the halls of Congress where figures such as Rep. Michelle Bachman regularly engage in the name calling.
President Bush had his share of people who hated him, but did members of Congress who disagreed with him ever call him a fascist?

You've again displayed your total lack of interest in serious discussion. You spew 1/2 truths, and sit back. What kind of person, especially a so called reporter, are you? This is why people are sickened by all media. It's a real problem!

The tax cut threshold has never been etched in stone, or sand at low tide. Obama and his campiagn staff have been quoted using figures as low as $150k, with Biden pointing out that $100k was the "true target". After all, it's the patriotic thing to do. Simple math prescribes that now all income will be taxed.

What is the subject of your blog post? I'll take my pick. You do not understand the tea parties. Although higher taxes for all are inevitable, this has more to do with a government who will not listen, not taxes; though high taxes for all are inevitable. I'll use a line from the movie "Spy Game". Redford's character asks rhetorically, "when did Noah build the ark...? Before the rain, before the rain". This is the time to act. Once this administration has it's way, there is no turning back. Tax day was used as a symbolic day, nothing more. I frankly don’t care how members of congress refer to Obama. At least it wasn’t done on foreign soil, as was done to Bush. I do take issue with arrogance from you and the rest of the media in humiliating those who for the 1st time in their lives are practicing their right to free speech. Remember, you get paid, we do not.
