Today is Tom Brady's 32nd birthday, and he celebrated it at the Patriots' training camp with a punitive "lap" around the practice fields this morning.
The Patriots were running goal-line offense drills and Brady fumbled a snap from center Dan Koppen, so both were forced to start their disciplinary run -- presumably around both practice fields before returning to the huddle. But after running to the other end zone, turning at the goalposts and heading to the goalpost of the second field, Brady and Koppen made a quick turn around the post and cut across the unoccupied field to return to the huiddle.
I guess being Tom Brady has its privileges. Most other players would have had to complete the circuit.
Several fans had signs and banners professing their wishes of birthday cheer for the 10th-year quarterback, who stayed on the field for a few extra moments with new tight end Chris Baker to work on their timing.
We'll have more about that on today's audio blog, which will be forthcoming later this afternoon.
