President Barack Obama has yet to name his nominee for a soon-to-be-vacant Supreme Court seat, but Republicans are already announcing their rationales for blocking the nomination.
It is ususally consider good manners to wait to find out who you are opposing before you begin opposing them, but the times they are a changing.
There was a time when the Senate would only block a Supreme Court nomination if there was a glaring problem with the person, such as a lapse of ethical conduct.
Things began to change when Democrats defeated Robert Borque and they got worse during the Clarence Thomas hearings, even though Thomas was confirmed.
But now Republicans are saying they could filibuster Obama's nominee even though they don't know anything about the nominee yet.

Thanks. This article from FOX is dated the 19th, and links to what appears to be a fringe site. Is this blog from the 18th referring to the same or similar fringe sites? If so, what's the point?
Recently, however, Obama was quoted describing his "litmus" of having a nominee with empathy. If that's the test, we do have major problems. A justice is to uphold the Constitution, not empathize.
