Minsarah
Lee Konitz is an American jazz composer and
saxophone player. Konitz is sometimes regarded
as the preeminent cool jazz saxophonist, because
he performed and recorded with Claude
Thornhill, Lennie Tristano (both often cited as
important cool jazz proponents of the mid
1940s), and with Miles Davis on his epochal
Birth of the Cool, which gave the form its name.
The members of the trio Minsarah met while all
three attended Berklee in Boston, and soon
developed an intense musical connection which
produced an exceptionally unique sound. A team
of densely interacting improvisers, the three play
with power and dramatic intensity, fresh
lyricism, and a sense of melody that’s all their
own.

July 9 7:30 PM $10 Otis Grove Otis Grove began as a collective experiment in
crossing the traditional jazz sound with funk and
Hip-Hop rhythms. It was the beginning of a
sound based in groove, free in improvisation, yet
rooted in songwriting and soulful melodies.
Based out of Boston, the band began spreading
their sound to New England clubs in 2002. The
music, which has since evolved into a unique
blend of soulful organ funk and garage rock,
pays tribute to the masters while consistently
pushing itself in new directions. The hip-hop
influence in OG’s music is unmistakable.
However, the trio covers a great deal of musical
ground throughout the album. The trio - known
for their high-energy, dance inducing, dynamic
live perfomances - signed with Ropeadope
Digital records in early 2008 and is currently
promoting their 2nd studio album, Crank it Up.
