There is more evidence in that political discussion has gone over the edge and labels are becoming meaningless.
Republican National Chairman Michael Steele said the other day that U.S. Rep. Arlen Specter is a "leftist" with a "left wing record."
The comments were made in response to Specter's switch from the Republican to Democratic party.
Regardless of what you think of Specter and his switch, there is no way he is a leftist and he does not have a "left wing record."
Specter is firmly in the middle of the political spectrum.
He is a little liberal by Republican standards and little conservative compared to most Democrats.
But, as mentioned here before, labels have become meaningless in a time with President Obama is routinely called a "facist."
The name calling discredits the speaker more than the target because the public can see the labels are not accurate.
And speaking of Specter, those of you who believe Jon Stewart only goes after conservatives should view his slamming of Specter from last night.
Stewart blasted Specter for switching parties for what seems to be his own survival rather than for principles.
He also showed a clip from several weeks ago when Specter was saying how important it is that the Republicans maintain at least 41 seats in the Senate so Democrats cannot run roughshod over Congress.

Is that all you watch is Stewart; like that's where the news is? I can understand the public being confused, but you are (I assume) a hard journalist. You must have better sources than the Comedy Channel. We should add to this, the late braking yet unreported, upcoming vacancy on the Supreme Court. Now there will be no checks in the system, whether you agree with the administration or not. I understand the story broke after your post, but there's nothing in today's SC.

I don’t particularly believe in conspiracies, but there are sure many coincidences.
